Urine Fentanyl Test
Fentanyl is a potent and rapid-acting synthetic opioid analgesic that is utilized in clinical settings for the management of chronic pain and as an anesthetic. Its primary pharmacological effects are exerted on the central nervous system, resulting in analgesia (the inability to feel pain), mood alterations (euphoria, dysphoria), and drowsiness. Fentanyl and its analogues pose a significant risk of overdose fatalities, particularly when illicitly manufactured fentanyl is combined with or disguised as heroin, cocaine, or other illicit substances, often in conjunction with xylazine. Within the human body, fentanyl is metabolized into norfentanyl and other metabolites.
Texas Scientific LLC offers comprehensive screening and confirmatory testing for fentanyl, norfentanyl, and xylazine to detect illicit drug use involving fentanyl or for therapeutic drug monitoring. If the initial screening result is presumptively positive, a quantitative or qualitative confirmation test is conducted to verify the positive results. The Urine Fentanyl test includes the following analytes:
-
Fentanyl
-
Norfentanyl
-
Xylazine
The test detects both prescription drugs and illegal substances, supporting patient rehabilitation and recovery processes. A positive result indicates that a drug or its metabolites were found in the specimen tested. A negative result indicates that the drug was not detected in the specimen tested or was below the detection threshold.
